[[rect*]]repair Code of Conduct
[[rect*]]repair is a translocal art game collective. Our Discord, events, and collaborative projects are spaces for play, experimentation, and community. [[rect*]]repair is dedicated to providing a safe and harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion (or lack thereof), or technology and artistic choices.
Expected Behavior
- Be kind, patient, and generous. Assume good faith. Many of us are working across languages, time zones, and cultural contexts.
- Respect people's boundaries and space, online and in person.
- Content appropriateness: Use content warnings when sharing material that may be distressing, including but not limited to: violence, sexual content, flashing imagery, or depictions of abuse. Degrading sexual language and imagery is not appropriate in any rect*repair context.
- Productive communication requires effort. Think about how your words will be interpreted.
Unacceptable Behavior
Harassment includes, but is not limited to:
- Unwelcome or hostile behavior, speech, or contact
- Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
- Unwelcome sexual attention or imagery
- Spamming, trolling, or flaming
- Posting (or threatening to post) others' personally identifying information (doxing)
- Microaggressions: brief and commonplace verbal, behavioral, or environmental indignities that communicate hostile or derogatory slights
- Harassment based on race, gender, religion, age, color, national origin, physical appearance, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity
- Symbols of hatred in any form
- Harassing photography or recording
- Advocating for or encouraging any of the above
Private harassment is also unacceptable. No matter who you are, if you feel you have been or are being harassed or made uncomfortable by a community member, please reach out.
Enforcement
If someone engages in behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including but not limited to:
- Asking a violator to apologize for their actions
- A conversation about the behavior
- A warning
- A temporary timeout or mute
- Removal from a channel, event, or project
- A ban from rect*repair spaces
We believe in restorative approaches where possible. The goal is not punishment but community care — addressing harm, making space for accountability, and moving forward together. That said, the safety of the community comes first.
Reporting
If you experience or witness a violation, please reach out:
- Discord: DM admins joanna @1y01yyu or viola @sandpills
- In-person Events: Events might be organized by different community members. You should contact whoever is organizing the event.
Reports will be handled with discretion. We will respect your privacy to the extent possible while addressing the situation.
Attribution
This Code of Conduct draws on community guidelines from Livecode.NYC and Gæmz, as well as the broader tradition of community codes of conduct in creative and tech spaces.
This is a living document. rect*repair organizers may update it as the community grows and evolves.
